Incident Types:
- Accidental Dwelling Fires
Accidental dwelling fires are fires in dwellings where the cause of the fire was accidental. |
Primary fires include all fires in buildings, vehicles and some outdoor structures or any fire involving casualties, rescues or fires attended by five or more appliances. |
An incident that did not occur at a Primary location, was not a chimney fire in a building, did not involve casualties (otherwise categorised as a Primary incident) and was attended by four or fewer appliances (otherwise categorised as a Primary incident).
These are fires that:
1. were not chimney fires
2. did not occur at Primary locations
3. did not involve casualties, resources or escapes
4. were attended by four or fewer appliances.
Deliberate fires include all fires where the cause of the fire was deliberate. |
"Any unplanned and uncontrolled wildland fire that, regardless of ignition source, may require suppression response or other action according to agency policy".

False Alarms - False alarms include all of the following False Alarm categories:
- Fire False Alarm - Where the FRS attends a location believing there to be a fire incident, but on arrival discovers that no such incident exists, or existed.
- False Alarm due to Apparatus - are calls initiated by fire alarm and fire-fighting equipment operating (including accidental initiation of alarm apparatus by persons or where an alarm operates and a person then routinely calls the FRS as part of a standing arrangement, i.e. with no ‘judgment’ involved, for example from a security call center or a nominated person in an organisation). Apparatus – (fire) detection and alert/call equipment
- Good Intent False Alarms - are calls made in good faith in the belief that there really was an incident. Can include where the FRS is summoned by a person utilising a call point/alarm or phone.
- Malicious False Alarms - are calls made with the intention of getting the FRS to attend a non-existent incident, including deliberate and suspected malicious intentions.
