    working in partnership to make Dorset safer


 

This exciting interactive educational suite will be run by trained members of Dorset Fire and Rescue Service. Tailored programmes will be used to teach safety to groups in the community.

Starting with three life-size rooms – bedroom, kitchen and sitting room – the learner will be able to spot hazards and learn how to make them safe and how to make escape plans.
They then turn the corner and watch a real fire developing in a bedsit behind glass. Here they will see the speed in which a fire can develop until it reaches flashover.
Finally they will be taken past three rooms mirroring the original three rooms. The first two will show the devastating after-effects of a fire and the third will show an undamaged room, highlighting important messages of how to avoid fires spreading.
A whole class can experience FireWise by splitting into two groups and making use of the Fire Survival Studio where other messages will be taught, and points will be reinforced.
