An Introduction to Equality Impact Assessments:

Dorset Fire and Rescue Service (DFRS) is required by law, as a Service Provider and employer to promote equality, diversity and eradicate unfair discrimination.

EIAs are one of our key tools for improving the quality of our services. They helps us improve the services we provide within Dorset communities and the working lives of our staff. They allow us to assess the impact of our policies or services, by helping us to eliminate or mitigate against any adverse effects they might have on our employees or the communities we serve.

As a matter of best practice, DFRS carries out EIAs, taking into account all nine protected characteristics.
