The ‘two ticks’ disability symbol

Dorset Fire and Rescue Service have been accredited with the Employment Service (Job Centre Plus) ‘two ticks’ disability symbol. As an employer using this symbol, the Service operates a Guaranteed Interview Scheme (GIS) which means that all disabled candidates, who meet the minimum criteria for a post, will be interviewed. The minimum criteria for a post will be made available to applicants through the person specification for the job role applied for. Candidates can apply by indicating on the application form that they have a disability.

Candidates can apply by indicating on the application form that they have a disability. The Employee Resourcing Team will advise short-listing panels when applicants with disabilities apply under the GIS, and will remind panel members of the need to ensure that applicants under the scheme, who meet the minimum criteria, are included on the short-list.

The Employee Resourcing Team will monitor the short-listing process to ensure that the commitments of the ‘two ticks’ disability symbol are adhered to.
