The Property Services team provides a comprehensive in-house, property facilities/management service. The majority of reactive, planned and programmed maintenance is executed within the team as are all capital works schemes, new builds and so on. The Property Services Manager and Surveyor also provide out of hours accessibility as duty surveyors to provide emergency support for a 24/7/365 Fire Service.  The team comprising of :
  •  A Property Services Manager, who leads on the 'contractor-side' of maintaining our property. With responsibility for ensuring that the Authority’s stock of property is maintained to a high standard for effective and safe operational purposes, and improved or altered as necessary to meet changing legislative and Service requirements within allocated budgets and in accordance with the Property Asset Management Plan. In addition there is also responsibility for both scheduled and unscheduled building maintenance inspect ions of properties and identification of any potential projects for inclusion in the minor capital works programme, including management of all projects in accordance with recognised internal and external standards and all relevant legislation (i.e. Building Regulations, Town Planning Policy, Health and Safety Legislation.It is also a legislative requirement to facilitate the Annual Maintenance requirements for the Authority’s stock of property. 

  • A Property Services Surveyor who supports the Property Services Manager in ensuring that Dorset Fire and Rescue Service (DFRS) property stock is maintained to a high standard and is fit for safe and effective operational use. Also carrying out both scheduled and unscheduled building maintenance inspect ions of properties and identification of any potential projects for inclusion in the minor capital works programme.

  • A Property Maintenance Co-ordinator ,also on the Contractor side, who is the first point of contact and lead on co-ordination of all property maintenance requirements and soft facilities contracts (such as ground maintenance and contract cleaning, refuse disposal, laundry and so on) and projects devolved by the Property Services Manager under the minor capital works programme. There is also responsibility for the maintenance of the electronic access system to all of the Authority’s property stock.
The Departments limited resources are supplemented by a Service Contract with Dorset County Council to give access to a contractor framework, schedules of rates, and other areas of specialist expertise, throughout the county.
