Dorset Fire Authority (DFA) is committed to working with other emergency services in a number of areas. There is the opportunity for joint working with the police, ambulance, and coastguard services by sharing facilities, such as our fire stations.
We are also working with district and borough councils on issues of common interest, such as community safety and the Environment Agency on a number of areas. This collaborative work is in line with the Government's concept of 'joined up government'.
We are working with the Dorset Police Authority and the Dorset Ambulance Trust to develop a new combined fire/police/ambulance station in Poole and a combined fire/ambulance station in Dorchester. The scheme is dependent on securing funds through the Private Finance Initiative, a Government supported initiative which provides major capital projects in the public sector through partnership with the private sector. Further details of this project are given under the section Major Capital Projects.
