Information

Weymouth station has two conventional appliances, one crewed 24/7 by Wholetime Duty System (WDS) and the other by Retained Duty System (RDS) on a part-time basis (called in to staff the appliance when required). The aerial appliance is also staffed by RDS staff. The RDS attend the station on a weekly basis to maintain their skills with additional training periods available for those who operate the aerial appliance.

There are two further appliances in the form of the Technical Rescue units and they are staffed by WDS staff.

The station is also the base for the Princes Trust Volunteers, who hold a few courses throughout the year from the station. There are also several community groups who use the extensive station facilities for various meetings and support groups. If you are interested in using the station facilities for an upcoming event or function, please contact the Station Manager.

To see if we're having an open day or event check out the events section of our website, we hope to see you soon!

Weymouth is a wholetime fire station with a retained crew. The retained drill night is a Thursday.

Your Risks

Knowing Your Risk

Weymouth is a safe place to live, work and visit but we need to help make you even safer.
How We Assess Risks
We assess risks by identifying the number of incidents within target groups and predict the number of fires likely within that target group over the next three years. We then look at the wards and work out in which wards we are likely to have the most fires and for Weymouth this is shown on the map below. Risks are rated from Low to Very High.

Just because the ward is assessed as being at high risk does not mean that you are not safe. Simple precautions can improve safety in your home. To help with this, each of our fire stations has a tool which enables them to target individual properties that are most at risk and offer to complete a free home safety check which may include the fitting of a free smoke alarm.
